Welcome to our Web site!

Our Mission:

Promoting conservation of indigenous plants of the Southeast through education, research, horticulture, habitat preservation, and advocacy.

National Native Plant Conservation Initiative:

Why we do what we do:

“For the enduring benefit of the Nation, its ecosystems, and its people, to conserve and protect our native plant heritage by ensuring that to the greatest extent feasible, native plant species and communities are maintained, enhanced, restored, or established on public lands, and that such activities are promoted on private lands.” - National Native Plant Conservation Initiative (1995)

Request for information from Genevieve K. Walden, a grad student at San Francisco State University studying the evolution of the genus Phacelia with Dr. Robert Patterson. If any of you observe Phacelia spp. in leaf, flower or fruit, please contact Genevieve at gkwalden@sfsu.edu or (530) 902-0739 (cell). She is interested in all species in the genus and particularly any unique or interesting variations within populations. She is trying to include as many locations and taxa as possible. She would also be happy to receive voucher specimens at: Harry D. Thiers Herbarium, Department of Biology, San Francisco State University, 1600 Holloway Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94132.
